Our Worship Style

The heart of Holy Covenant is experienced during our Sunday morning worship. With a participatory style of liturgical worship, our service follows the Christian year: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. Our worship services combine moments of reflection through prayers and silent meditation as well as times of challenge and inspiration through the preaching and music. We are a lay-led church, which means that we involve members of the congregation in our worship leadership as well as our ministers, deacons and elders. We honor the primacy of Scripture and typically include a reading from the Psalms or other Hebrew Scripture, an Epistle lesson and a Gospel reading.

For Christians the new year begins with the season of Advent, four weeks prior to Christmas. Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ into the world. Our Advent candles and wreath mark the increasing light of God’s presence with us. The liturgical color blue is emphasized during this season as a marker of the royalty of Jesus’ lineage. The Christmas season is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm as the Christ candle is lit and our liturgical colors shift to the purity of white.

The second major season of the Christian year begins with Lent and Ash Wednesday, observed 40 days prior to Easter. Ash Wednesday is a time of repentance and our sanctuary colors highlight this with purple as the liturgical color. Resurrection Sunday (Easter) is the culminating celebration for Christians as we affirm the hope that under girds our faith. Easter season is continued for fifty days and then comes the festive experience of Pentecost when God’s Spirit was imparted to ALL the believers assembled in Jerusalem. The season of Pentecost extends through summer and fall and culminates with the final Sunday of the year when Christ’s Reign over all is observed.Up-Arrow / Top of Page

Sunday Schedule
Sunday SchoolSunday School 9:45 am
Christian education is available for all ages and every level of interest in study and discussion. Our infants, children and youth all have competent, caring leadership and we have a schedule of classes available for adults.

Worship 10:55 am
We celebrate the opportunity to join our spirits together in the worship of God each Sunday morning. Join us for this time of outstanding music, inspiring preaching, and meaningful liturgy. We offer childcare for those age five and under.

Coffee Fellowship 12:00 pm
Immediately following worship we invite visitors and members to linger for a cup of coffee and most importantly, the opportunity to visit with one another. We hope you’ll stay for just a few minutes and allow us to get to know you and share with you some of our hopes and dreams for Holy Covenant.

Childcare
Childcare is available during Sunday School and all Worship Services. We take seriously our responsibility to provide excellent care for children. Our primary Nursery Supervisor is Angie Scavone. She is aided by additional workers and a trained staff of volunteers. Our best recommendations come from the children who race into their arms each Sunday morning!

Communion
We celebrate the sacrament of holy communion on the first Sunday of each month as a way to regularly observe Christ’s urging to "do this in memory of me." Additionally, communion is served on those significant Christian days of celebration such as Christmas Eve and Easter.

Healing Touch
Healing Touch Service takes place on the third Sunday of the month and starts at 1:30 p.m
