The first Great Awakening sweeps through Protestant churches in colonial America, including the Congregationalists, forebears of the United Church of Christ.
One of the great thinkers of the movement, Jonathan Edwards, says the church should recover its passion for a transforming faith that changes "the course of [our] lives."
